Aikido of El Paso
The art of resolving conflict without force.
Strength Without Aggression
Aikido of El Paso is a nonprofit school dedicated to the practice of aikido, a Japanese martial art that promotes conflict resolution and connection rather than resistance and strength. Aikido focuses on self-defense in a way that minimizes injury and avoids violence or aggression. Because the practice can be adapted to a range of fitness levels, people can train well into their 80s.
Learn. Move. De-escalate.
Aikido of El Paso offers twice-weekly classes for members of the community who are interested in learning self-defense, improving their fitness level, and learning methods to physically and verbally de-escalate situations.
The curriculum includes empty-hand techniques as well as weapons training with sword and staff. The school is led by chief instructor Paul Forhan, a sixth-degree black belt, and is part of the United States Aikido Federation.
